Ray and Green named CFL Top Performers in Week One

TORONTO – The Canadian Football League announced today that Toronto Argonauts quarterback Ricky Ray and receiver SJ Green have each been named CFL Top Performers of the Week following their performances vs. the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in Week 1.

Ray, who a had a career day on Sunday afternoon at BMO Field, completed 32-of-41 passing attempts for 506 yards and a touchdown to lead the Argonauts to a 32-15 victory over the rival Ticats. The 15-year veteran’s 506 passing yards set a new career high and marked the second time in his career that he has eclipse the 500-yard mark and 12th time in which has thrown for 400+ yards in a single-game. Ray also joined the 55,000 career passing yards’ club on Sunday, a feat only three other quarterbacks have accomplished.

Green made his Argonauts debut in good fashion on Sunday, hauling in seven passes for 124 yards. The 11-year CFLer, who returned from a knee injury suffered in Week 2 of last season, recorded his 18th career 100-yard receiving game. On a 27-yard completion from Ray in the first quarter, Green slid into the Top 60 pass catchers of all-time. With 6,750 career yards, he now sits 296 short of entering the CFL’s Top 50 in all-time receiving yards.

The Toronto Argonauts return to BMO Field on Friday, June 30, at 7:00 p.m. ET to host the BC Lions.
