Argos to host ‘Huddle Up’ Bullying Prevention Rally during Grey Cup week

Award-Winning Recording Artist Alx Veliz to Perform Hit Songs in Support of Standing Up to Bullying

TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts announced today plans to host an outdoor ‘Huddle Up’ Bullying Prevention Rally at Nathan Phillips Square during the Grey Cup Festival presented by Shaw in downtown Toronto on Wednesday, November 23 from Noon to 1:30pm.

The Rally will bring together thousands of students to join Argos players and alumni, including Michael ‘Pinball’ Clemons, local politicians, celebrities, and many others to all stand up together against bullying.

Local singer-songwriter Alx Veliz will perform his new single U + Me and hit song Dancing Kizomba in a demonstration of support for everyone to stand up against bullying. DJ ROMEO will perform and rock the crowd, creating the energy needed to bring the crowd together for this important cause.

“While the national spotlight is on Toronto during Grey Cup week, it’s the perfect time to shine a light on this serious issue that affects youth in all our communities every single day,” said Michael Copeland, Argos President and CEO. “By standing up together, we can empower our kids and our community leaders to make a real difference and make positive changes in so many people’s lives.”

Hosted by Family Channel’s Deepa Prashad, the Rally will inspire people to stand-up to bullying to reduce the impact it has on so many. All attendees will stand up together and take the following pledge to embrace, encourage and celebrate uniqueness.

Together, we will huddle up as one team for one dream – to celebrate, embrace, and encourage uniqueness in ourselves and others.

Students attending the rally will hear from CFL Commissioner Jeffrey L. Orridge, Argos President & CEO Michael Copeland, Travis Price, the co-founder of the Pink Shirt Campaign, Olympic Medalist Jason Burnett, Argos Huddle-Up Alumni Students Andrea Marie Resendes and Melanie Rampaul, Kids Help Phone and many more.

The Argos ‘Huddle Up Bullying Prevention’ presented by Tim Hortons has helped over 500,000 youth over the last 15 years and continues to visit schools where Argos players get involved and work with students to prevent bullying.
