Argonauts add DB Carter to practice roster

TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts announced today that the team has signed national defensive back Michael Carter to the team’s practice roster.

Carter, a 5-10, 175-lb native of Windsor, Ontario, was selected by the BC Lions in the third round (19th overall) of the 2011 CFL Draft and has since spent time with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Montreal Alouettes, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and most recently, the Edmonton Eskimos.

In 39 career CFL games played, the Maryland product has registered 19 defensive tackles and 12 special teams tackles.

A transfer from Erie Community College, Carter spent four seasons at Maryland (2007-10), playing in 19 career games while twice earning Iron Terp status as a top strength tester. In one season at Erie Community College, Carter was a first-team all-conference selection and the NE Conference Athlete of the Year, posting 35 tackles, two tackles for a loss, four interceptions and 12 pass breakups.
