The Canadian Football League announced today that Toronto Argonauts kicker Lirim Hajrullahu and defensive back AJ Jefferson have been named Shaw CFL Top Performers of the Week following their performances vs. the Ottawa Redblacks in Week 6.

Hajrullahu becomes the first kicker to be honoured as a Shaw CFL Top Performer of the Week since the program’s inauguration last season after connecting on 5-of-5 field goal attempts in Sunday’s game in the nation’s capital. The Western product hit from 25, 37, 43, 49, and 53 yards. His 53-yard field goal, a season long, gave the Argonauts the go-ahead lead with 1:20 remaining in regulation.

The first-year Argonaut has now hit 16-of-18 field goal attempts this season. The St. Catherines, Ontario native currently sits tied with Winnipeg’s Justin Medlock for second in the League in points with 62 – just four points behind league-leader Chris Milo (66), and third in the CFL having hit 83.3% of his attempted field goal attempts this season.

Jefferson earns his first Shaw CFL Top Performer of the Week honour after recording five defensive tackles and two interceptions in the Argonauts 23-20 win over Ottawa at TD Place on Sunday. Jefferson’s two interceptions played an integral part in the win as his second pick in the closing minute of the game solidified the win for the Argonauts.

The Fresno State product’s two interceptions marked the first-time since September 28, 2013 against the Edmonton Eskimos that an Argonauts player has recorded two interceptions.

Joining Lirim Hajrullahu and AJ Jefferson as this week’s Shaw CFL Top Performers is Calgary’s Bo Levi Mitchell. The three players were chosen by a panel of judges including former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
