The Toronto Argonauts announced today that the team has signed international defensive back Jerald Brown.

Brown joins the Argonauts in 2016 for his eighth CFL season, having spent the last seven seasons with the Montreal Alouettes. In 102 career regular season games, 95 of which he started, the 5-11, 185-pound native of Washington, DC has registered 279 defensive tackles, one special teams tackle, 18 interceptions, seven fumble recoveries and 19 pass knockdowns with the Als. The 2013 CFL All-Star and three-time East Division All-Star helped the Alouettes to back-to-back Grey Cup Championships in 2009 and 2010.

“Jerald brings a veteran presence to the back end of our defence. Throughout his career he has been a student of the game, and recognized as an all-star and Grey Cup champion multiple times.” – head coach Scott Milanovich “

“We’re excited to add his leadership and experience to our locker room.”

The two-time Grey Cup Champion etched his name into the Alouettes record book returning a fumble recovery 103 yards for a touchdown in the Alouettes Eastern Semi-Final win over the BC Lions in 2014.

Following his four year collegiate career at Glenville State, he had stints with the Arena Football League’s New York Dragons, Arizona Rattlers, Columbus Destroyers and Kansas City Brigade, and also spent training camp with the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs in 2006.
