Argos Sign Pair of 2015 CFL Draft Picks From OUA Schools

TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is pleased to announce that 2015 CFL Draft picks WR/KR Kevin Bradfield, from the University of Toronto, and RB/LS Dan MacDonald, from the University of Guelph, have both signed on. International DL Chuck Hunter and international OL Gregory Van Roten have also been added to the roster. All four players will be on the field for Argos Rookies and QBs Camp starting Wednesday, May 27 at York University.  

Bradfield, a seventh round (55th overall) 2015 CFL Draft selection, spent four seasons at the University of Toronto. The Toronto, Ontario native had 48 receptions for 603 receiving yards and two touchdowns while adding 498 kick return yards on 37 returns en route to being named a 2014 CIS All-Canadian and first-team OUA All-Star. The two-time All-Canadian also chiseled his name in Varsity Blues history as the all-time leader in punt returns (120) and punt return yards (1,287) last season. Bradfield becomes the first UofT player drafted by the Argonauts since 1998 (Eric Shilts).

MacDonald, a 5-10, 215-pound, native of Burlington, Ontario, was also selected by the Argonauts in seventh round (56th overall) of the 2015 CFL Draft earlier this month. He spent the last four seasons at the University of Guelph, primarily as a long snapper, making two appearances in the Yates Cup.

Hunter, a 6-1, 305-pound, native of West Monroe, Louisiana, recently attended mini-camp with the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts earlier this month. In four seasons at TCU, the three-time Second-Team All-Big 12 selection registered 102 tackles, 23 tackles for a loss, seven quarterback sacks, one forced fumble and  one fumble recovery.

Van Roten, a 6-4, 295-pound, native of Rockville Centre, New York,  had stints with the NFL’s San Diego Chargers, Green Bay Packers, and Seattle Seahawks over the last three seasons. In his four seasons at the University of Pennsylvania, he was a two-time Ivy League Champion and named First-Team All-Ivy in 2010 and 2011.

The Argonauts also announced today that the club has released international WR Mark Harrison.
