Demetrious Maxie – Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Line Coach

“D-Max” returns to the organization for which he starred and later won a Grey Cup ring as an assistant, this time adding assistant head coach to his title.

The popular defensive lineman played 67 regular season and eight playoff games for the Argos between 1996-99 and again in 2002.

The Shreveport, Louisiana native played 14 seasons in the CFL, making stops in Toronto, Edmonton, Baltimore, Montreal, Saskatchewan, and Calgary.

He won Grey Cups here as a player in 1996 and ’97, and with Baltimore in ’95. He was named a CFL All-Star in 1999 with the Argos and in 2000 with Saskatchewan.

After coaching at his alma mater, the University of Texas at El Paso product began his CFL coaching career with Edmonton in 2016 as their linebackers coach. Two years later he became the defensive line coach and had been in that position for six seasons before joining the Argos.

Maxie was a part of the Argos 2024 Grey Cup winning coaching staff before heading back to Edmonton for one year.

He was announced as the Boatmen’s assistant head coach and defensive line coach on January 8, 2026.
