TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club announced today they have signed American LB Khalan Tolson and American WR Trea Shropshire.
Tolson, 24, had 76 tackles and one sack for the Houston Gamblers of the USFL in 2023 after spending time with the Carolina Panthers in 2022, signing with the NFL team that May. The 6’0, 235lb linebacker from Florida played four seasons at The University of Illinois (2018-2021) and racked up 128 tackles, 10 for loss, 2.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, and one forced fumble in 28 games.
Shropshire, 23, recently spent time with the D.C. Defenders of the UFL and attended New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings mini-camps in 2023. Before this, the 6’3, 195lb receiver was selected in the eighth round of the USFL Draft by the Memphis Showboats in 2022. The Louisiana native played three seasons at the University of Alabama-Birmingham (2020-2022) where he caught 78 balls for 1,936 yards and 15 touchdowns in 34 career games. Attended Blinn College before his move to UAB.
The team also announced the retirement of Canadian WR Richard Burton.
