Argonauts Transactions – October 7

 

The Toronto Argonauts announced today that the team has added international receiver Andre Davis to the club’s practice roster and signed international defensive lineman Troy Davis.

Andre Davis, a 6-1, 210-pound native of Tampa Bay, Florida, spent the last two seasons with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccanneers, following a prolific career at the University of South Florida. In 43 games with the Bulls, Davis tallied 153 receptions for 2,136 yards and 17 touchdowns, including a career-high seven touchdowns in just eight games during his senior season. Davis graduated South Florida owning every school single-season and single-game receiving record for receptions, yards, and touchdowns.

Troy Davis, a 6-2, 245-pound native of Lawrenceville, Georgia, spent the second half of the 2015 season on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats practice roster, suiting up for the team in last year’s East Final. Prior to his time in Hamilton, Davis spent time with the NFL’s New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys, recording five tackles in four games for the Jets during his 2013 rookie campaign. The 2012 First Team All-C-USA selection racked up 127 total tackles (65 solo, 62 assisted), 28 tackles for a loss of 137 yards, 18.5 quarterback sacks, 13 pass deflections, five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one interception in 50 career games at the University of Central Florida.
