TALE OF THE GAME

  • The Toronto Argonauts fell to 4-5 on the campaign, dropping a nail-biter to the BC Lions on a last-second field goal by Richie Leone.
  • Ricky Ray made his return to the Argonauts lineup on Wednesday night, and despite a three-game hiatus the veteran showed little rust. Ray led the team to their first opening-drive touchdown of the year, completing 3-of-3 passes for 62 yards and a touchdown on the Argos first offensive possession of the night. The Argos pivot ended the night completing 24-of-29 passes (82.8%) for 213 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception.

WORTH NOTING

  • Kevin Elliott hauled in Ricky Ray’s opening-drive touchdown pass, giving the wideout his first touchdown since October 6, 2015 (Week 16).
  • Elliott secured 6-of-6 targets on the night for a single-game career-high of 89 receiving yards and a touchdown.
  • AJ Jefferson hauled in an end zone interception at the conclusion of the first quarter, giving the second-year corner three picks this season.
  • Ricky Ray completed 14 consecutive pass attempts in the first half, the third-longest streak by an Argonauts quarterback in a single game. Ray now owns the top three spots for consecutive pass completions by an Argo; he previously tallied 21 and 17 straight completions.
  • Shawn Lemon brought down Jonathon Jennings twice in the game, giving him his second two-sack game in a row and his third of the season. Lemon now has seven sacks in five games in Double Blue.
  • Brandon Isaac made a team-high six defensive tackles against the Lions, the fourth of which gave him 200 defensive tackles in the CFL.
  • Llevi Noel tallied another two special teams tackles against the Leos, moving his team-leading total to 14 on the year. Noel is once again tied with Hamilton Tiger-Cats linebacker Frederic Plesius for the league-lead.
  • Lirim Hajrullahu hit both of his field goal attempts on the night, connecting from 44 and 20 yards away. The St. Catharines native has now knocked through his last eight field goal attempts and improved to 19-of-22 on field goals this season.
