Argos Acquire Rb Jamal Robertson In Deal With Roughriders

 

Mississauga – The Toronto
Argonauts have added help at running back by acquiring Jamal Robertson in a trade with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The Argos
sent former CFL Draft pick CB Leron Mitchell to Saskatchewan in exchange.

Mitchell
was drafted by Toronto
in the 2nd Round (12th overall) in the 2006 CFL Canadian
Draft. He dressed in 29 regular season games and three playoff games over two
seasons and accumulated 31 total tackles and three fumble recoveries, almost
all on special teams.  Robertson arrives in Toronto tonight and is expected to practice
with his new teammates tomorrow.

with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and attended beginning of training camp
before being traded to Toronto.

2007: Attended training
camp with the Atlanta Falcons (NFL) and was released as a final cut.

2006: Attended training
camp with the Carolina Panthers and released as a final cut on September
2…Signed with the Atlanta Falcons (NFL) on December 12.

2005: Played
6 games on the Carolina Panthers roster as both a running back and kick
returner…Rushed 14 times for 41 yards with 16 kickoff returns for 343 yards.

2004: Dressed
in seven games for the San Francisco 49ers (NFL)
and had 25 kickoff returns for 560 yards and 71 rushing yards…Released by San Francisco on November
2…Signed with the Carolina Panthers (NFL) on January 13 and dressed in 5 games
recording 31 kickoff returns for 740 yards.

2003: Dressed in nine
games for the San Francisco
49ers and played six games and had 11 kickoff returns for 242 yards.

2002: Signed as an
undrafted free agent with the San
Francisco 49ers (NFL) and allocated to the Rhein Fire
of NFL Europa and set the league record for the longest run from scrimmage (90
yards)…Named NFLE Offensive MVP.

2001: Signed
as a free agent with the Calgary Stampeders and spent entire season on
the club’s practice roster.

College: Finished his college
career as Ohio Northern’s all-time leader with 4,169 rushing yards, 5,388
all-purpose yards, 56 touchdowns and 338 points scored…two-time first-team
All-America selection and two-time first-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference
choice as a junior and senior…led the nation with a school-record, 2,308
all-purpose yards and set another school mark with 1,664 rushing yards.

Personal: Jamal attended Stebbins H.S. where he was named
co-state player of the year along with NFL Pro Bowl CB Charles Woodson. He was
a double major in criminology and sports management and his wife is Kelli and
his son is Jalil.
