Neal played four seasons (2015-18) at Northern Iowa and saw action both at defensive end and linebacker. In 47 games for the Panthers, he made 142 tackles including 39 tackles for loss, 21 sacks, eight forced fumbles, one interception and five pass breakups. He earned second-team all-Missouri Valley Football Conference honours in 2017 after leading the conference with 9.5 sacks.
