Markus Howell – Receivers Coach
After an impressive career as a receiver and coach, Markus Howell has made his way to Toronto.
In the 2000 CFL Draft the Winnipeg native was a fourth-round pick by his hometown Bombers after playing NCAA football at Texas Southern.
Over the next decade Howell would catch passes and return kickoffs and punts for the Bombers, Calgary Stampeders and Ottawa Renegades.
Upon his retirement he immediately entered the coaching ranks in 2011, joining the Blue Bombers as a defensive and special teams assistant. He also became the team’s linebackers coach in mid-season when coach Richard Harris passed away.
He’d become the receivers coach in Winnipeg for the next four seasons before taking similar jobs with Saskatchewan and B.C. before joining the Double Blue.
Howell won a Grey Cup as a player with Calgary in 2008.
