Chris Jones was added to the Argos coaching staff in September 2021.

It’s a second tour of duty in Toronto for Jones, who was a member of the Argos 2012 Grey Cup staff as the defensive coordinator. He was also in that role for the 2013 season.

Jones began his coaching career in 1995 at Tennessee Tech as a Graduate Assistant, fulfilling the same role at Alabama in 1997.

His first job in the CFL was in 2002 as Montreal’s defensive line coach. After one season he was elevated to become the Alouettes Defensive Coordinator, a job he’d hold for five seasons before moving to Calgary, where he’d retain the DC title while adding responsibilities as the Stampeders assistant head coach, and assistant director of player personnel.

He was then brought in as the Argos defensive coordinator, leading the team to a decisive 35-22 win over Calgary, a game where they not only limited Jon Cornish to 57 rushing yards on 15 carries but scored a touchdown on an interception return by Pacino Horne. He was also the assistant head coach and assistant general manager for the Boatmen.

Jones would leave Toronto for a head coaching job in Edmonton. He would spend two years in Northern Alberta before becoming the head coach and general manager of the Saskatchewan Roughriders for three seasons.

He would then join the Cleveland Browns as a defensive assistant before returning to his hometown to coach South Pittsburg High School in Tennessee, his alma mater. He announced his resignation there and joined the Argos in September.
