Argos add two Americans: DL Davis and WR Zico

TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts announced today the club has signed American DL Ryan Davis and American WR Isaac Zico.

Davis, 30, most recently played for the Orlando Apollos of the now-defunct Alliance of American Football where he recorded the first sack in team history. The 6’2, 275-pound lineman spent seven years in the NFL, playing in 63 total games for Jacksonville (2012-2015), Dallas (2016), Buffalo (2017) and Los Angeles (2018) tallying 14 sacks, 44 total tackles and one interception. The Tampa native played in all 16 regular-season games in both the 2014 and 2017 seasons.

Davis played four years at Bethune Cookman University (2008-2011) where he racked up 190 tackles, 44.5 tackles for loss, 24.5 sacks and forced 12 fumbles on his way to being nominated the MEAC Defensive Player of the Year following his senior season.

Zico, 23, was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Arizona Cardinals in August and caught four passes for 49 yards over four preseason games this year. The 6’1, 200-pound receiver spent his last two years of college at Purdue University (2017-2018) where he caught 52 balls for 777 yards and seven touchdowns over 16 games. At the end of his senior season Zico finished 10th in the Big 10 in receiving yards (743) and 7th in yards per reception (16.2). The Atlanta native played two previous seasons of college ball at Georgia Military Institute catching 60 passes for 1,233 yards and 19 touchdowns in 21 games.
