TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts announced today the club has brought back National DL John Biewald and added six players to its expanded practice roster, American WR Dominique Heath, American LB Juwan Foggie, American RB AJ Ouellette, American WR Damion Jeanpiere, American DL Ricky Haley and American DB Lorenzo White Jr.
Biewald, 6’3 and 235-pounds, appeared in one game for the Double Blue this season after playing in five in 2018. The Western product spent some time with the Ottawa Redblacks in late 2016 and 2017 before returning for his final season of U Sports eligibility.
Heath, 5’9 and 166-pounds, played his final college season at Appalachian State (2018) where he hauled in 23 passes for 304 yards and five touchdowns in 13 games for the Mountaineers. The North Carolina native played three seasons at Kansas State (2015-2017) before his time at App State, catching 95 balls for 947 yards and seven touchdowns for the Wildcats. Heath also added 39 punt returns for 401 yards and a touchdown.
Foggie, 6’1 and 235-pounds, spent the last five years at the University of Charlotte where he started his career as a wide receiver for the 49ers catching seven passes for 72 yards. The native of High Point, North Carolina really came into his own after making the transition to linebacker in his Junior year, amassing 142 total tackles, nine tackles for loss, one sack, seven interceptions, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and three defensive touchdowns in 24 games over two seasons. Foggie led the NCAA in 2018 with six interceptions as a LB and was named 2018 Second Team All-Conference USA selected by the league’s coaches. Foggie’s cousin is former Argo QB Ricky Foggie.
Ouellette, 5’10 and 210-pounds, spent time with the New Orleans Saints in May of this year before being waived and signed by the Cleveland Browns where he played in four preseason games totaling 24 yards on the ground. The native of Covington, Ohio played five seasons at Ohio University (2014-2018) where he left as the school’s third all-time leading rusher and fourth all-time in touchdowns. In 50 career games for the Bobcats, Ouellette ran for 3,329 yards and 12 touchdowns while catching 63 passes for 516 yards and six touchdowns through the air. The running back was named the Mid-American Conference’s Player of the year in 2018.
Jeanpiere Jr., 6’1 and 185-pounds, was signed by the Carolina Panthers in April and played through the preseason before being waived at the end of August. The Louisiana native spent four seasons at Nicholls State leaving as the school’s second all-time leading pass catcher. Jeanpiere caught 128 passes for 2,324 yards and 14 touchdowns over 41 games for the Colonels. The receiver was also named All-Southland Second Team as a punt returner in 2018 after 12 returns for 82 yards.
Haley, 6’3 and 270-pounds, played four seasons at Alabama State, recording 68 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one interception in 28 total games for the Hornets.
White Jr., 6’1 and 190-pounds, most recently spent time in the Arena Football League last season with Sioux Falls after stints in Tri-City (2015) and Spokane (2016). Before his Arena Football experience, the Florida native worked out for the Miami Dolphins and Green Bay Packers as well as a spending training camp with the Montreal Alouettes in 2013. The Central Michigan product played four seasons for the Chippewas recording 95 tackles, one interception and 15 pass break-ups in 44 career games. White Jr.’s father is eight-year NFL veteran and one time Pro Bowler (1992) Lorenzo White.
