Argos Add INT DL Freddie Bishop III

TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts announced today the club has signed International DL Freddie Bishop III.

Bishop, 29, played five games for the Memphis Express of the AAF in 2019 making four tackles and one tackle for loss. The 6’2, 259-pound defensive linemen spent the 2018 preseason with the Detroit Lions recording 12 total tackles in four games. Previous to his time in Detroit, Bishop played nine games for the New York Jets over two seasons (2016-2017), tallying 19 combined tackles and one pass deflected. A three-year CFL veteran, the Michigan native spent three seasons with the Calgary Stampeders (2013-2015), piling up 60 tackles and 14 sacks (led the Stamps in 2015 with 11) while winning a Grey Cup with the team in 2014.

The former Western Michigan product played 48 games for the Broncos over five seasons (2008-2012) including a redshirt freshman season, totaling 172 total tackles, 31.5 tackles for loss, 15 sacks and three forced fumbles. Bishop was named Third-Team All-MAC in 2011 and Second-Team All-MAC and the team’s most outstanding defensive player in 2012.

The club also announced the release of INT DB Devin Butler.
