Start time of home opener moved to 4PM

In case you missed it… or maybe you just don’t have a twitter account, the CFL and the Argos announced today that the kickoff time of our home opener against the Ticats has been moved up to 4:00 PM.

“We are happy to accommodate the time change for the game on June 22nd,” said Argos Vice-President of Business Operations Chris Shewfelt, “The 4 pm start will allow our fans to enjoy a great afternoon of football at BMO Field, while also giving them the opportunity to take the short walk to the Budweiser Stage and see the JUNO Award-winning Arkells after the game”.

The idea of changing the start time began earlier this week when the Arkells tweeted out a message urging fans to retweet to show their interest in a change. The previous start time of 7:00 PM would have conflicted with the bands newly announced Toronto stop on their Rally Cry Tour.

The tweet picked up a lot of traction and ultimately the Argos, the League, and the Ticats agreed that a change made sense.

“Toronto loves the Arkells, it’s obvious from the popularity of this June 22 show and from their recent sell-out of Scotiabank Arena in February.  Our fans can now cheer on their Argos, then take the short walk to the Bud Stage and sing along with the Arkells ,” added Shewfelt.

Tickets for our home opener will be released in May when the full slate of single-game tickets go on sale. Tickets for the Arkells show can be purchased here. You can secure your ticket to the home opener by becoming a member today.
