TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts announced today that the team has signed international defensive back Ronnie Yell to a one-year contract through the 2018 season.

“In four years in the league, Ronnie has developed into a consistent playmaker in the secondary and we are thrilled to welcome him to Toronto,” said Argos GM Jim Popp.

Yell, 26, is a four-year CFL veteran with 61 games played, all of which he has started. In four years with the BC Lions, the 5-10, 185-pound native of Los Angeles, California, has recorded 168 defensive tackles, eight special teams tackles, four tackles for a loss, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, seven interceptions, and 17 pass knockdowns. In 2017, Yell started all 18 games for the Lions, notching career-highs in tackles (64) and interceptions (3).

Following a four-year collegiate career at San Jose State, Yell made a stop with the Arizona Cardinals before arriving in BC in 2013. In 46 games at San Jose State, Yell tallied 141 tackles, 4.5 tackles for a loss, and two interceptions while returning 33 kickoffs for 665 yards and 24 punts for 90 yards.
