TALE OF THE GAME:

  • The Toronto Argonauts dropped to 7-9 on Saturday on the road in Edmonton with a 30-27 fourth quarter loss to the Eskimos. It is the second loss in a row for the Argos, they end the season-series with Edmonton split 1-1.

WORTH NOTING:

  • QB Ricky Ray completed 32 passes for 361 yards and his 24th TD pass. It was the 11th time this year he has thrown for 300+ yards and the 89th time in his illustrious career he has reached the feat. He is now only 246 yards shy of 5,000, a milestone he has reached three times in his career.
  • WR S.J. Green, in the midst of his best season in his 11th year, caught a 14-yard pass in the second quarter that gave the South Florida product a new single-season career high in receiving yards, previously set in 2013 with Montreal (1,197). Green finished the game with 13 catches for 159 yards and a touchdown, bringing his season totals to 95 catches for 1,337 yards – both career-highs – and nine touchdowns.
  • Short yardage specialist QB Cody Fajardo snuck in his 4th rushing TD of the year and passed for his second when he hit RB Declan Cross late in the game for a go-ahead touchdown. It was the second time in his two-year career he has both thrown for and rushed for a touchdown in the same game.
  • Seeing his first action since Week 11, RB Brandon Whitaker rushed 10 times for 39 yards. He surpassed former Argo great Michael “Pinball” Clemons for 35th all-time in CFL rushing yards and now sits at 5,380.
  • DL Justin Tuggle recorded his first career interception when he grabbed a tipped pass in the first quarter. He added to his productive day by recording his third sack of the season to go along with four tackles.
  • WR Armanti Edwards brought in eight passes for 95 yards on Saturday night. The first year Argonaut now has eight games in 2017 with at least 5 receptions and 50 yards. He is second on the team in receiving with 871 yards and needs to average 65 yards over the final two games to reach 1,000 on the year.
  • LB Bear Woods once again led the defence in tackles with six on the night, the 11th time he has had at least five tackles in a game this season. After missing the previous game due to injury, the Troy product sits 6th in the league in defensive tackles.
  • Tying a career high in tackles, rookie LB Terrance Plummer had a big game alongside Woods, bringing down Eskimos players six times on the night. He also had six tackles in Week 9 vs. Montreal.
  • The Double Blue offence was once again productive on first down. They amassed 331 yards on first down, compared to Edmonton’s 223 and their 7.5 average on the down was significantly better than their season-long average of 6.8, which is third best in the CFL.
