The Toronto Argonauts and World Financial Group (WFG) are proud to present Safe Contact Clinics provided by Ontario Football Association and Football Canada for Toronto and Peel Region schools for amateur football coaches this fall.

“Our proud partners at World Financial Group are helping the Argonauts and Ontario Football Association with the support to reach high school coaches in the Toronto and Peel regions to provide them with Safe Contact training,” said Argos President and CEO, Michael Copeland. “These clinics will provide coaches with an opportunity to make this great game safer to play so it can grow and continue to positively change lives.”

Safe Contact teaches safe tackling and blocking as part of Football Canada’s National Coaching Certification program. As of today, there are over 5,000 Safe Contact trained coaches in Canada. In order for a high school football team to play, they are required to have at least one coach on their staff with this much-needed and important training.

On Wednesday, September 13, 2017, WFG and the Argonauts will host a Safe Contact Clinic for Toronto region high schools to help their coaches acquire their Safe Contact training. It will take place at Richview Collegiate Institute and consist of in-class instruction by Ontario Football Association Safe Contact facilitators and an on-field practical session in the afternoon. The practical session will have 50 high school football players receiving instruction on the fundamentals of safe tackling and blocking.

Argonauts offensive lineman and Toronto native Jamal Campbell and linebacker Marcus Ball will provide valuable insight and autographs for the high school players following the practical session.

In addition to the standard training, the coaches will hear from Argos Assistant General Manager, Spencer Zimmerman.
