Post-Game Notes: Week 7 vs. Calgary

TALE OF THE GAME: 

  • The Toronto Argonauts returned to BMO Field to take on the Calgary Stampeders on Thursday night to close out their third game in 11 days. The Argonauts dropped to 3-4 following a 41-24 loss to the visiting West Division foes.

 

WORTH NOTING:

  • Argos QB Ricky Ray streak of six games with 300+ passing yards came to an end on Thursday night vs. the Stamps. The 15-year veteran left the game during the third quarter with an upper body injury. Ray finished the night 16-of-26 passing for 139 yards with one touchdown and an interception.
  • Third-year Argonaut Cody Fajardo entered the game in the third quarter in relief of the injured Ray. Fajardo finished the game 6-of-11 passing for 75 yards and added eight carries for 55 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
  • LB Bear Woods had his fifth game with 5+ tackles this season, notching nine tackles and his first sack as an Argonaut. His last sack coincidentally came against the Calgary Stampeders on October 15, 2016. Woods now has a total of 45 tackles in seven games, an average of 6.4 tackles per game. At this rate, he is currently on pace to record 115 tackles this season.
  • Canadian defensive tackle Jeff Finley recorded his second game this season with a pair of sacks. Finley finished the night with a career-high five tackles and two sacks.
  • S.J. Green led all pass catchers on Thursday night with 87 yards and a touchdown on six catches.
  • RB/KR Martese Jackson compiled 226 combined yards on the night, his highest yardage total since the Argos played Winnipeg in Week 4.
  • First-year Argonaut Dylan Wynn notched both his first career sack and first career game with multiple sacks. Wynn had a season-high four tackles and two sacks vs. the Stamps.
  • 2017 CFL Draft pick Nakas Onyeka was a special teams ace for the Double Blue on Thursday night. The Wilfrid Laurier product led the team with three special teams tackles after recording his first career tackle last week in Regina.
  • The Argos D brought down Bo Levi Mitchell a season-high five times on the night while getting to Andrew Buckley once. Entering Week 7, Calgary had given up a total of four sacks in their previous six games and had not allowed a single sack in the previous two games.
