Gameday Primer: Week 1 vs. Hamilton

Here are a couple of game notes to get you primed for Sunday’s home opener against the Ticats:

Trestman Back in the North

After four years in the NFL, Marc Trestman will officially make his return to the CFL as the 43rd head coach of the Toronto Argonauts on Sunday vs. Hamilton after being hired by the club on February 28.

Ray Searching for 300

Future Hall of Famer Ricky Ray returns to action on Sunday afternoon for his 15th CFL season and sixth in Double Blue. Ray needs four touchdown passes to hit the 300 mark and become the 6th QB in history to do so.

Green Returns, but in Double Blue

51 weeks after suffering a significant knee injury that kept him out for the 2016 season, WR SJ Green will finally make his return to the playing field. Green, who spent the last 10 seasons in Montreal will get a fresh start in 2017 after being traded to Toronto in April.

Lemon Drops Waiting to be Served

After spending the off-season in Toronto, 2016 East Division All-Star and co-sack leader Shawn Lemon is ready for the 2017 season under new defensive coordinator Corey Chamblin. Last season, the sixth-year CFLer notched career-highs in sacks (14) and forced fumbles (5) while adding 22 defensive tackles. The Akron product enters the season seven tackles shy of 100 career tackles and needs eight sacks to record the 50th of his career.
