In the final two rounds of the 2017 CFL Draft, the Toronto Argonauts have selected linebacker Justin Herdman (Simon Fraser University) and Matthew Carson (University of Calgary).
Herdman, selected 54th overall, played four seasons at Simon Fraser University. The 6-1, 235-pound native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, finished his collegiate career with 220 tackles (125 solo, 95 assisted), 33 tackles for a loss, six sacks, three quarterback hurries, two interceptions, five forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, one of which was returned for a touchdown, and 12 pass breakups at SFU.
The three-time GNAC Football All-Academic Team selection had 73 tackles (43 solo, 30 assisted), nine tackles for a loss, two fumble recoveries, one interception, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and three pass breakups as a senior with the Clan in 2016.
Carson, selected 63rd overall, played four seasons at the University of Calgary. The 6-2, 262-pound native of Calgary, Alberta, recorded 29 tackles and two sacks in 30 games with the Dinos.
