DB Akwasi Owusu-Ansah re-ups with Argonauts

TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts announced today that the club has re-signed international defensive back Akwasi Owusu-Ansah.

Owusu-Ansah returns to Toronto for his third season in Double Blue after becoming a free agent on February 14. In 22 regular season games over the last two seasons with the Argos, he has registered 50 defensive tackles, two special teams tackles, four interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown, and a forced fumbled.

The 6-1, 210-pound native of Gainesville, Florida, saw his 2016 season cut short after suffering a torn pectoral muscle vs. Ottawa in Week 4.

Prior to signing with the Argos on May 21, 2015, he spent time with the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars, Oakland Raiders and Detroit Lions. The two-time All-PSAC selection and 2009 D-II All-American registered 44 tackles, two tackles for a loss, 10 interceptions and 14 pass breakups at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
