Five things to know about Quayshawn Nealy

1) The 6-1, 225-pound linebacker was born in Winter Haven, Florida, joining eight other players currently on the team’s roster who are from the Sunshine State.

2) Nealy attended Lakeland High School where he received multiple honours including All-State FSWA 5A Honorable Mention, All-Area Second Team LB, Polk County Co-Defensive Player of the Year and First-Team all-county. A talented basketball player as well, Nealy led Lakeland to district championships in 2008 and 2009. As a three-star recruit, he was heavily pursued by Ole Miss but ultimately ended up committing to Georgia Tech.

3) At Georgia Tech, Nealy was a defensive leader, starting in at least 12 games in each of his final three seasons, including all 14 in his 2014 Senior year. He racked up 158 total tackles in his final two years at GT, ranking second on the club both seasons. Nealy elevated his play during bowl games, helping the Yellow Jackets secure a Sun Bowl win in 2012 and an Orange Bowl victory over Dak Prescott’s Mississippi State Bulldogs in 2014. The three-time ACC Linebacker of the Week graduated from Georgia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in management in 2014.

4) The 25-year old linebacker played in the 2015 East-West Shrine college all-star game alongside Argos defensive lineman Daryl Waud. Nealy made four tackles in a 19-3 win for the East; he recorded four tackles, including one for a loss and another on Argos quarterback Cody Fajardo.

5) Since his time at Georgia Tech, Nealy has spent time on three NFL rosters, making stops in Tampa Bay and Arizona after originally signing with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2015.
