Argos Sign Trio of Receivers

The Toronto Argonauts announced today that the team has signed international receivers Markeith Ambles, Christion Jones and Shane Williams-Rhodes.

Ambles, a 6-2, 201-pound, native of McDonough, Georgia, played two seasons at the University of Houston after transferring from Arizona Western and Southern California. In two seasons with the Cougars, he caught 50 passes for 794 yards and five touchdowns.

Jones, a 5-11, 187-pound, native of Adamsville, Alabama, spent last season with the NFL’s Miami Dolphins. The University of Alabama product had 85 receptions for 1,030 yards and seven touchdowns while returning 134 kicks for 2,446 return yards and four touchdowns with the Crimson Tide. He was named the SEC’s Special Teams Player of the Year and an All-SEC selection in 2013, and helped the Crimson Tide capture back-to-back BCS National Championships in 2011 and 2012.

Williams-Rhodes, a 5-6, 173-pound, native of Spring, Texas finished his NCAA career with 3,315 all-purpose yards and 18 touchdowns and ranked second all-time in receptions (233)  at Boise State. The two-time All-Mountain West honourable mention and Academic All-Mountain West honoree ranked fifth in the conference with 63 receptions for 524 yards while adding 13 carries for 102 rushing yards and a touchdown with the Broncos last season.
