The Toronto Argonauts announced today that the team has signed Canadian defensive lineman Brian Bulcke through 2016.

“Brian Bulcke brings experience and leadership that will be valuable to our defensive unit,” said Argonauts GM Jim Barker. He is the type of professional that we look for in this organization.”

Bulcke arrives in Toronto for his sixth CFL season after spending the last three seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. In 27 starts with the Tiger-Cats, the 6-4, 281-pound native of Windsor, Ontario registered 41 defensive tackles, one tackle for a loss, five quarterback sacks and three fumble recoveries. The Ticats 2014 Most Outstanding Canadian and Defensive Player missed the 2015 season after suffering a knee injury during training camp last June.

“I’m so thankful for this opportunity and am excited to get started here in Toronto,” said the defensive tackle. “I’m looking forward to bringing my leadership to the locker room and helping to continue driving the championship culture of the Argos as we strive to be the 104th Grey Cup Champions in our own backyard at BMO Field. ”

Prior to signing as a free agent with the Tabbies on February 15, 2013, the Stanford product got his first taste of the CFL with the Calgary Stampeders, who traded for him in 2011 after being selected sixth overall by the Edmonton Eskimos in the 2010 CFL Draft.
