TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is pleased to announce that national DB Shane Herbert has extended his contract through 2016, and international WR Diontae Spencer has signed on as a free agent.

Shane Herbert played in 13 games for the Argonauts in 2014. He set career-highs with two (2) fumble recoveries for 2 yards, one (1) forced fumble and 4 special teams tackles. The Ajax, Ontario native, who led Pickering High School three straight Metro Bowl game appearances, first joined the Double Blue during 2011 Training Camp. Herbert was a standout at the 2011 CFL Combine setting benchmarks in the 40-yard dash, broad jump and vertical jump. He played four seasons at Wilfrid Laurier University where he was a two-year starter as a junior and senior.

Diontae Spencer recently attended training camp with the St. Louis Rams (NFL) after a four-year career at McNeese State. As a senior, he caught 50 passes for 835 yards and nine (9) touchdowns. He also added three (3) touchdowns on both punt and kick returns.
