TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club would like to congratulate Purolator Inc. on winning the first-ever Sponsorship Marketing Council Canada’s (SMCC) Hall of Fame Award, honouring their award winning Purolator Tackle Hunger (PTH) program. “We are extremely honoured to be among the first recipients of this prestigious Hall of Fame award,” said Ramsey Mansour, Vice President of Marketing, Purolator in a statement. “For us, this award is a true testament to the hard work, dedication and commitment of our employees, customers and partners – including the Canadian Football League (CFL) and its fans. Their continuous support and contributions in tackling hunger in our communities are what make this program successful year after year.”

The Double Blue and CFL have been involved with the Purolator program for 11 years, engaging employees, partners and CFL fans to work towards alleviating hunger in communities across Canada. At one game in every CFL city, fans can donate non-perishable food or cash and have their photo taken with the Grey Cup. In 2013, PTH raised over 1.1 million pounds of food, totalling over 6.5 million pounds raised to date.

“We are proud to partner with Purolator, and our other member CFL clubs, in delivering one of the most impactful sponsorship programs in Canadian history”, said Argos David Bedford, Senior Vice President, Business Operations.  “In a city as big and diverse as Toronto there is no shortage of people going hungry every day.  We are thrilled to work with Purolator, in support of Toronto’s Daily Bread Food Bank, in providing some comfort for those who struggle to find nutritious meals on a daily basis.”

Purolator Tackle Hunger kicks off their 2014 campaign with PTH week from June 2 – 6. The Toronto Argonauts look forward to another successful year for Purolator, including their Purolator Tackle Hunger game scheduled for October 10 against rival Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Rogers Centre.
