Slaton, most recently with the Miami Dolphins (2011-2012), was drafted by the Houston Texans in the third round (89th overall) of the 2008 NFL draft. He set multiple franchise records in his first season, including a new single-game rookie record with 156 rushing yards and a touchdown. He also broke the then-franchise single season rushing record with 1,282 yards. In 2010, he served as the Texans’ primary kick returner.

Slaton was explosive while at West Virginia University (2005-2007) where he still holds school records for all-time rushing touchdowns (50) and all-time total touchdowns (55). As a freshman in 2005, he was named the Nokia Sugar Bowl MVP and Big East Rookie of the Year. As a sophomore, he broke the WVU season rushing record with 1,744 yards and 16 touchdowns. Slaton finished college with 4,728 combined yards and was a member of two Bowl championship teams in three years.

The Toronto Argonauts also announced that import RB Tristan Davis has been released.
