Argos Announce Parade Details

The Toronto Argonauts reached their ultimate goal tonight by both hosting and hoisting the 100th Grey Cup with a 35-22 win over the Calgary Stampeders at Rogers Centre! Now it’s time to celebrate with a victory parade scheduled for Tuesday, November 27 starting at 11:30 a.m. in downtown Toronto.

The parade to celebrate the club’s 16th Grey Cup win, its first since 2004, will begin at Wellington St. & Yonge St. (west side) and travel west to Bay St. It will then turn north and proceed up Bay St. The parade will culminate on stage in Nathan Phillips Square where city officials will read a proclamation announcing November 27, 2012 to be Toronto Argonauts Day!

28 Nissan Titan pickup trucks and one Nissan 370Z convertible will carry QB Ricky Ray, 2012 CFL Most Outstanding Player, Chad Owens, Grey Cup game Most Valuable Player, RB Chad Kackert, Grey Cup Most Valuable Canadian, DE Ricky Foley, Head Coach Scott Milanovich, and all of the Argonauts players, coaches and their families through town. The Argos Cheerleaders, presented by the Toronto Sun, will welcome fans and the Argos’ own pep band, the Argonotes, will excite the crowd. The procession will be led by a Toronto Police Ceremonial Unit and Pipe Band, two Toronto Police historical vehicles, Toronto Fire Pipe and Drum Bands, Toronto Fire Li’ Red Antique Fire Truck, Toronto Fire Command Unit, Toronto Firefighters War Veterans’ Association Colour Guard, Toronto EMS Ambulance and Honour guard, TTC Honour Guard and Commission car as well as the St. Michael’s Drumline. A pair of local high school football teams from the TDSB, as part of the Argonauts’ Level the Playing Field program, presented by Tim Hortons, North Albion Collegiate and Sir Robert L. Borden, will also participate in the parade.

START TIME:      11:30 A.M.

ROUTE:            The parade will begin on Wellington St., west side at Yonge St., and travel westbound to Bay St. It will then turn onto Bay St. and head   north. The parade will culminate with team introductions and Mayoral proclamation on stage at Nathan Phillips Square.

NOTE:              Argonauts players and coaches will be made available to the media following team introductions at Nathan Phillips Square. Specific media details (including staging, parking, other technical requirements etc.) will be distributed on Monday.
