Medlock Earns Weekly Honours

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mississauga – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club would like to congratulate K/P Justin Medlock on being named CFL Special Teams Player of the Week. Medlock tied a club record with seven field goals in last week’s game against the BC Lions at Rogers Centre.

Tying A Record

Rookie P/K Justin Medlock tied a club record with seven field goals in last week’s game against the BC Lions at Rogers Centre. Former Argos Lance Chomyc and Noel Prefontaine are the only other players in club history to hit that mark.

Medlock, who had already been playing with a hot-foot entering CFL Week 7, hit seven of seven field goal attempts, three from 50+ yards (51, 51 and 52) and one from 46 yards, and accounted for 21 of Toronto’s 28 points scored in what was a close game. The ‘feat’ tied an Argos record for field goals in a game originally set, twice, by all-time Argo Lance Chomyc (Sept. 30, 1988 at Calgary & Oct. 14, 1988 vs Ottawa) and later matched by Noel Prefontaine (Aug. 1, 2003).

Medlock also punted seven times for 270 yards, 38.6 AVG, LG 51, and had 9 kickoffs for 497 yards, AVG 55.2, LG 67. This is the first time in his career that Medlock has earned CFL Special Teams Player of the Week honours.

Fans can see Medlock and the rest of the Argos live at Rogers Centre on Friday, August 28; kickoff is 7:30 pm. CLICK HERE for tickets.
