FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Toronto – Following a news conference in Moncton, NB, the Toronto Argonauts are pleased to announce that the good ship Argo is pulling into the harbour as the club has been selected to be the home team when a CFL regular season game comes to Atlantic Canada next season.

Toronto Argonauts President and CEO Bob Nicholson remarked, “We are thrilled that the League has chosen the Argos to be the home team for the first-ever CFL regular season game in Atlantic Canada.  When the Toronto Argonauts played in Halifax in 2005, we promised the citizens of Moncton that we would play there and are excited that we can finally deliver on that promise.

“The Argos are committed to building the CFL game throughout Canada and bringing our game to the East Coast helps do this.  As well, we look forward to creating packages to attract our season ticket holders and fans to the Province of New Brunswick for this historic event.  We are also working on building an event in the Toronto-area where fans and season ticket holders can gather to watch the Moncton game.”

The game, scheduled for September 2010, will likely be against a Western opponent and will be played before as many as 20,000 fans at the Université de Moncton.  CFL Commissioner Mark Cohon also announced that local officials are working to organize a weekend long festival that will include parties, music, family fun and plenty of football, including high school games and possibly a university contest.  A portion of game proceeds will be used to set up a legacy fund of up to $75,000 to support minor football programs throughout Atlantic Canada.

The Toronto Argonauts also released their season ticket pricing for the 2010 campaign today.  After conducting season ticket holder focus groups and listening to fan feedback, the Argos have responded by reducing season ticket prices on a per game basis (see chart below).  Moreover, the Rogers Centre seating map has been recoloured resulting in a further price reduction in 37% of seating at Argos games.  A new and even more affordable season ticket category has also been added for 2010.  Perfect for families on a budget, “Blue” season tickets are available for $161, or less than $20 per game.

Nicholson commented, “We are pleased to continue to deliver the best impact for your entertainment dollar in Toronto pro sports.  We recognize that many of our season ticket holders have faced tough economic times and have responded by reducing our 2010 season ticket prices.  Our fans are integral to everything we do as an organization and we pride ourselves on bringing them great value.”
