Mississauga – The Toronto Argonauts added speed and depth to their roster today by signing DB Joshua Abrams and CB Peter Ittersagen (pro: IT-ER-SAY-GAN).
Abrams played four seasons at Ohio University primarily on offence and special teams. As a senior, he played in 11 games at receiver, running back, returner and cover man, and was twice named MAC Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. He also had a nose for the ball successfully blocking six kicks in his final two seasons. Abrams spent the last two seasons on the Green Bay Packers’ practice roster where he converted to defensive back.
Ittersagen starred for four seasons at his hometown Wheaton College. He shattered several school records and as a senior was named to the AFCA Division III Coaches’ All-American team, earned AP Little First Team All-American and First Team All-Region at cornerback and returner. He had nine career touchdowns (5 PR, 3 INT, 1 KR) and was named the conference Defensive Player of the Year as a junior. He attended 2009 training camp with the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars.
