TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts announced today that the club has signed a pair of international players: running back Kendall Hunter and offensive lineman Anthony Morris.
Hunter, a 5-7, 200-pound native of Tyler, Texas, spent time with the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers, who selected him in the fourth round (115th overall) in the 2011 NFL Draft. The Oklahoma State product played 45 NFL games, 43 with the 49ers, registering 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns on 263 carries while catching 27 passes for 268 yards.
In 46 games at Oklahoma State, the 2010 Consensus All-American rushed for 4,181 yards and 37 touchdowns. The two-time First Team All-Big 12 selection (2008, 2010) led the Big 12 in rushing yards (1,555) and yards from scrimmage (1,753) during a 2008 sophomore season that also saw him finish third in the Conference in yards percarry (6.5) and rushing touchdowns (16).
Morris, a 6-7, 300-pound, native of Memphis, Tennessee, was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the seventh round (218th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft. He played in 37 games in four seasons at Tennessee State. As a senior, he helped anchor an offensive line that ranked 18th in the FCS in average sacks allowed per game with 1.7.
The Argonauts also announced today that the club has released Canadian linebackerThomas Miles.
Miles played 40 regular season games for the Double Blue since being selected by the team in the fourth round (33rd overall) of the 2014 CFL Draft. He registered 58 tackles, 16 special teams tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in three seasons with the club.
