Argos Sign International Trio

TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts announced today that the club has signed international linebacker Victor Butler and international receivers Chuck Jacobs and RJ Harris.

Butler, a 6-2, 245-pound, native of Los Angeles, California, lands in Toronto after previously spending seven season in the NFL with the New York Giants, Indianapolis Colts, Arizona Cardinals, New Orleans Saints, and Dallas Cowboys, who selected him in the fourth round (101st overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft. In seven seasons of work, the Oregon State product registered 91 tackles (70 solo, 21 assisted), 11 sacks, four passes defended and four forced fumbles. The 2008 first-team All-PAC 10 selection played 48 career games at Oregon State, finishing his collegiate career ranked second in school history in sacks (26.0) and fourth in Beavers history in tackles for a loss (39.5).

Jacobs, a 6-0, 178-pound native of Richmond, California, spent parts of the last four seasons with the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers prior to being signed to the Argonauts practice roster in October. In 26 games at Utah State, the Laney College transfer recorded 61 receptions for 826 receiving yards and seven touchdown receptions, adding 1,020 kick returns yards on 42 returns en route to being named Honourable Mention All-WAC in 2012.

Harris, a 6-0, 201-pound, native of Wurzburg, Germany, signs with Toronto after spending time in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons. The University of New Hampshire product capped off his NCAA career atop the school and Conference leaderboard in receptions (310), ranked second in receiving yards (4,328) and second in UNH history in touchdowns (36). The three-time CAA Conference All-Star selection registered three consecutive seasons of 1,000+ yards with the Wildcats, including a record-tying 1,551 in his senior year.
