Argos sign four to roster

TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts announced today that the team has signed 2016 CFL Draft pick Chris Kolankowski and Canadian receiver Malcolm Williams, as well as international kicker Ryan Hawkins and international offensive lineman Brandon Washington. 

Kolankowski, a 6-2, 292-pound native of Etobicoke, Ontario, played five seasons at York University where he started all 16 contests for the Lions in his final two seasons. He participated in training camp with the Argos this past June after being selected by the club in the sixth round (49th overall) of the 2016 CFL Draft.

Williams, a 6-3, 221-pound native of Maple Ridge, British Columbia, spent the 2016 season on the Argos practice roster after playing three seasons with the CJFL’s Langley Rams. In 2014, he hauled in 38 passes for 580 yards and seven touchdowns with the Rams. Prior to joining the Rams in 2012, he played basketball at the University of British Columbia.

Hawkins, a 5-11, 185-pound native of Peoria, Arizona, returns to Toronto after previously spending time on team’s practice roster last season. In four seasons at Northern Arizona, he converted 23-of-38 field goal attempts (82.1%) while punting 73 times for an average of 47.7 yards. As a senior in 2015, he connected on 11-of-12 field goal attempts (92%) and punted 53 times for a 46.4-yard average.

Washington, a 6-3, 320-pound native of Miami, Florida, previously had stints with the St. Louis Rams and Philadelphia Eagles, who selected him in the sixth round (200th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft. In three seasons at the University of Miami, Washington played in 38 games, starting 27, and was named a First Team All-ACC selection in his 2010 sophomore season. He spent time on the Argonauts practice roster and training camp with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2016.
