TALE OF THE GAME

  • The Toronto Argonauts put together a strong defensive effort on Friday night but fell to 5-8 on the season in a 29-12 loss to the Ottawa Redblacks (6-5-1).
  • Drew Willy saw his first action for the Argonauts on Friday night, taking over the offence to begin the second half. The quarterback completed 16-of-24 pass attempts for 153 yards and one touchdown.
  • Dan LeFevour completed 13-of-19 passes for 72 passing yards and one interception, adding three carries for 25 rushing yards in his third consecutive start for the Argos.

WORTH NOTING

  • Drew Willy’s first passing touchdown as an Argonaut came on an 11-yard strike to Kevin Elliott in the back of the end zone in the fourth quarter. With the score, Willy became the fifth Argos quarterback to pass for a touchdown this season, joining Ricky Ray (13), Dan LeFevour (5), Logan Kilgore (2) and Cody Fajardo (2).
  • Brandon Isaac’s sack in the second quarter of tonight’s game was his first since October 4, 2013, as a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Isaac finished the night with a team-high nine defensive tackles, posting the highest single-game total of his career.
  • Ricky Foley recorded the 60th sack of his CFL career on Friday night, bringing down Trevor Harris for his fourth sack in 2016.
  • Devon Wylie blocked a Sergio Castillo punt in the second quarter, giving the Argonauts special teams unit three blocked punts in the last four games. Different players have executed all three blocks, with Brian Jones and Justin Hickman each tallying one in back-to-back games against Hamilton.
  • Brandon Whitaker made a season-high nine receptions in the contest, giving him a total of 55 catches out of the backfield in 2016.
  • The Argos defence allowed just one touchdown on the night, holding the opposition to just 15 points prior to Trevor Harris’ one-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter. The Redblacks converted just one of four red zone opportunities on the night.
  • The Argos offensive line held the Redblacks without a sack in Friday’s game, marking the first time this season they’ve prevented their opponents from registering a single sack.
