TALE OF THE GAME

  • The Toronto Argonauts knocked off the visiting Hamilton Tiger-Cats to improve to 5-6 on the season, dropping the Ticats to an identical 5-6 record.
  • The Argonauts avoided their first five-game losing streak of the Scott Milanovich era and snapped a five-game head-to-head winning streak for the Ticats.
  • In the 11th back-to-back set between the two teams since 1981, the Argonauts forced the third split between the teams. In 10 previous back-to-back series, the Argos had swept five and split two series, while the Ticats had swept the remaining three series, including the last two.

WORTH NOTING

  • Dan LeFevour threw his first passing touchdown since August 16, 2014, finding Tori Gurley for a 15-yard score on the team’s first drive of the game. The Argos quarterback completed 4-of-4 passes for 54 yards on the 71-yard scoring drive.
  • Lefevour passed for 318 yards on the night, notching his second career 300-yard game and his first since July 26, 2014 against the Ottawa Redblacks as a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
  • Lirim Hajrullahu extended his consecutive field goal streak to 15 on Sunday afternoon, hitting all three of his first-half field goals (38, 24, 15) and his lone second-half attempt (30). The St. Catharines native has not missed an attempt since July 25 vs. Montreal and his streak now ranks tied for third (Noel Prefontaine) on the Argos all-time list.
  • Brandon Whitaker opened the second half with back-to-back rushing touchdowns, his first two rushing scores of the season. It was Whitaker’s first game with two touchdowns on the ground since exactly one year ago in last year’s Labour Day Rematch vs. Hamilton.
  • Shawn Lemon extended his sack streak to four games on a fourth-quarter game-clinching strip sack. Lemon now has six sacks in the last four games and is ranked second in the CFL with nine on the season.
  • The Tiger-Cats led the CFL in second-half scoring (179) entering the week, but were held to just a single point in the second half on Sunday night.
