TALE OF THE GAME

  • The Toronto Argonauts earned their first win at their new digs, BMO Field, on Monday night, with a 30-17 with over the Montreal Alouettes.
  • The Toronto Argonauts scored touchdowns on three straight offensive possessions in the second quarter, opening up a 21-9 halftime lead. All three scores marked career firsts for an Argo player, as Kenny Shaw made his first career touchdown reception, Cody Fajardo threw his first career touchdown pass, and Devon Wylie joined Shaw with his first career touchdown reception.
  • Argos quarterback Ricky Ray’s first of three touchdown passes on the night – the 78th of his tenure in Double Blue — propelled him past Damon Allen and into second on the team’s all-time touchdown passes list.
  • After a quiet third quarter, the Argos offence found the end zone again in the fourth, as Ricky Ray connected with Phil Bates for his second career touchdown reception and Ray’s third major of the game.Anchor

WORTH NOTING

  • The Argonauts controlled the game clock on Monday night, owning possession of the ball for a total of 38 minutes and four seconds. Toronto’s 38:04 total time of possession is the most the team has achieved in a single-game this season.
  • Kenny Shaw hauled in his first career receiving touchdown on a 17-yard pass from Ricky Ray in the first quarter. Shaw finished the night with a team-high nine receptions for 86 receiving yards.
  • Devon Wylie made his first career TD reception in the second quarter, finishing his first career CFL game with five receptions for 55 yards and one score.
  • Thomas Gordon also made his CFL debut on Monday, recording his first career sack to go along with one defensive tackle.
  • Cody Fajardo recorded his first passing touchdown (and first CFL completion) with a 4-yard completion to Anthony Coombs in the second quarter. Fajardo has two touchdowns in the last two weeks.
  • Devin Smith made his return to the Argos lineup on Monday, recording three defensive taclkes and a forced fumble.
  • Ricky Ray’s three-touchdown game was his first game with 3+ passing TDs since October 10, 2014 against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
  • Ricky Ray completed 29-of-34 pass attempts (85.3%) in tonight’s game, recording the seventh-best single-game figure in Argos history.
  • TJ Heath recorded his second interception of the season on Monday, picking off Kevin Glenn’s end-zone-bound pass to Duron Carter. Heath, alongside linebacker Cory Greenwood, led the team with five tackles.
  • Shawn Lemon recorded his first multi-sack game as an Argo, the sixth of his CFL career. Lemon has three sacks and one forced fumble in three games in Double Blue.
