ARGOS ADD QB McPHERSON & DL BUCHANAN

TORONTO –  The Toronto Argonauts announced today that the team has signed international quarterback Adrian McPherson and international defensive end Michael Buchanan.

McPherson, a 6-3, 220-pound native of Bradenton, Florida, re-joins the Argonauts after spending the 2015 season and 2016 training camp with the club. In 2015 with the Argos, the seven-year CFL veteran dressed in 18 regular season games, completing 3-of-7 pass attempts for 10 yards and one touchdown while adding 45 yards and two touchdowns on 45 carries during the regular season. In the team’s East Semi-Final game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, McPherson completed one pass for 19 yards and rushed for 14 yards on three carries.

 

Buchanan, a 6-6, 255-pound native of Chicago, Illinois, joins the Argos after spending part of the 2015 season on the BC Lions practice roster, following stints in the NFL with the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills. The Illinois product was drafted in the seventh round (233rd overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft by New England and played in 18 games for the team, posting 11 tackles and two sacks. The two-time Second Team All-Big Ten at the University of Illinois registered 161 total tackles, 26 tackles for a loss, and 14 sacks during his time with the Fighting Illini.

The Argonauts also announced today that international defensive back Akwasi Owusu-Ansah has been placed on the club’s six-game injured list.
