TORONTO — Being a part of 11 squads since 2011 isn’t distracting defensive end Shawn Lemon from focusing on the here and now.

Less than a week removed from a trade that saw him exit Saskatchewan prematurely and end up an Argonaut, Lemon now has a game under his belt for Toronto and couldn’t be happier to be reunited with defensive coordinator Rich Stubler.

In an exclusive interview with James Cybulski on CFL.ca’s Waggle Podcast, Lemon compared the transient nature of his career to that of a student graduating each year of grade school.

“This time (going to Toronto) I would compare it to going to the next grade except your teacher from the previous grade is your teacher for this grade. I walked into the classroom and coach Stubler was there,” he told Cybulski. “It makes me feel a whole lot better because I fit in perfectly with him.

Listen to the complete interview below:

“(Stubler) is very important to my playing career and in my life outside of football.  He is a guy that I can go to about anything; advice about life and my playing career.  He puts me in the right position to be successful.”

Lemon also addressed his departure from Saskatchewan and although he didn’t go into too much detail, he did say that the situation was never right for both parties once the season started.

“Going in I thought it was a good situation for me.  We talked about some things within the scheme and thought things were going to play out differently for my role but Coach Jones had other plans for me.  I am thankful for the opportunity that they gave me.”
