Argos LB Cory Greenwood staying in Toronto

The Toronto Argonauts announced today that the team has re-signed national linebacker Cory Greenwood.

“Cory has been productive for us,” said GM Jim Barker. “He had some injury issues last season and we hope those are behind him. He’s not only productive on defence but also on special teams.”

Cory Greenwood returns to Toronto in 2016 for his third season with the Argonauts. The 6-2, 219-pound native of Kingston, Ontario was selected by the Argonauts with third overall pick in the 2010 CFL Draft.

In 10 regular season games, eight of which he started, he registered 36 defensive tackles, three special teams tackles and one sack. In 2015, he notched 5+ tackles in five games, including a nine tackle effort to lead the team in the Argonauts Eastern Semi-Final loss to Hamilton.

“He’s not only productive on defence but also on special teams.”

Prior to signing with Toronto on October 28, 2014, Greenwood had a stint in the NFL with the Detroit Lions and most notably with the Kansas City Chiefs from 2010-14. In 48 games, the Concordia University product compiled 35 tackles, primarily on special teams.
