Argos Sign Pair of Running Backs

Toronto – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club announced today that the team has signed national running back Dillon Campbell, an Argonauts 2015 CFL Draft pick, and international running back Edwin Baker.

Campbell finished his CIS career as Wilfrid Laurier’s all-time leading rusher with 3,598 yards and 24 touchdowns on 547 carries over five seasons with the Golden Hawks. The 5-8, 190-pound native of Whitby, Ontario set six different school records in rushing during his time at WLU. The two-time CIS All-Canadian and three-time OUA All-Star led the nation in rushing in 2014 and 2015, and was honoured as the OUA’s MVP and nominee for the Hec Creighton award in 2014.

Campbell participated in training camp with the Argonauts last season after being selected by the team in the fifth round (39th overall) in the 2015 CFL Draft.

Baker, a 5-8, 204-pound native of Detroit, Michigan comes to Toronto after stints in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints and San Diego Chargers. The Chargers selected him in the seventh round (250th overall) of 2012 NFL Draft. The former Michigan State Spartan finished his NCAA career with 462 carries for 2,293 yards and 19 touchdowns while adding 15 receptions for 125 yards and a touchdown. He was honoured as a first-team All-Big Ten selection in 2010 after becoming the sixth Spartan to rush for 1,000+ yards in a single-season (1,201).
