Toronto – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club and GoodLife Fitness want kids to get off their couches and on to a playground. In its 5th year, Argo-Cise presented by GoodLife Fitness brings Argos players, cheerleaders, Jason the Argos Mascot, and Argonauts and GoodLife staff members to elementary and middle schools around the GTA to show students that fitness is fun, as well as to provide healthy eating tips.
Argo-Cise begins with a school assembly and pep rally and continues with an extended 30 minute recess, engaging youth in football, sport and physical activity through a unique recess experience. Argos players will interact with the students, getting them involved in a circuit of drills and inflatable skill zones, providing students the opportunity to achieve their daily physical activity requirement.
The Argo-Cise program is one of three core in-school programs that the Toronto Argonauts bring to GTA schools. Along with the Huddle Up Bullying Prevention program and the Level the Playing Field football program, the Argos demonstrate a continued commitment to the emotional, mental and physical health of Toronto students. Thousands of GTA youth will participate in an Argo-Cise this month with an interactive portion that teaches students exercises that can be used in their daily lives including yoga, calisthenics, football drills and pre-game warm ups. Students and teachers can then download the instructions, as well as healthy eating tips, off of the Argos website at argonauts.ca for future use in the schools.
Due to school regulations, media wishing to attend any in-school events must contact the Toronto Argonauts Communications Department in advance.
